STRUCTURE: North Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group is set to debate future of Clevedon Community Hospital.

Last July North Somerset PCT cancelled the development of a new Clevedon Community Hospital however North Somerset CCG has committed to commissioning future clinical services at the present Clevedon Community Hospital site.

In a statement it said it would “develop, sustain and improve the provision of health care for Clevedon and surrounding areas”.

“The CCG will work with the North Somerset Partnership, who operate services from the hospital and the newly formed NHS Property Services who have assumed responsibility for the management and upkeep of the hospital itself.”

The CCG’s chief clinical officer Dr Backhouse said: “The paper is an important step forward in defining the future for Clevedon Community Hospital. We are committed to providing health services which meet the needs of the people of North Somerset and the Clevedon Community Hospital site is, and will remain, an essential part of those services.

“We all recognise the disappointment locally following the PCT’s decision to cancel the development of the new hospital but we encourage all local people who wish to become involved to join with us to develop sustainable plans that put the current hospital at the centre of high quality community services for the people of North Somerset.”
