PUBLIC HEALTH: North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust has contributed to the installation of barriers at a multi-storey car park in Midway, Newcastle-under-Lyme, as part of its public health remit to help reduce suicide attempts.

The trust paid £15,000, alongside funds from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Police.

Trust chief executive Caroline Donovan said: “This car park has been identified as an area which is of suicide risk. It is important that the trust adheres to its public health responsibility and promotes health and wellbeing and prevents harm wherever possible.”
