WORKFORCE: NHS Midlands and East has announced the appointment of four chairs to the newly created primary care trust cluster organisations across the region and two new trust chairs.

Jenni Ord has been appointed as chair of NHS Birmingham and Solihull cluster. She has been the chair of Solihull PCT since 2008 and began her career as a teacher. Working in the West Midlands for 36 years, she has held senior regional roles at The Benefits Agency, The Pensions Agency and The Highways Agency.  

The new chair of the NHS Black Country Cluster is Gill Cooper. Born and educated in Sandwell, and a lifelong resident of the Black Country, she has served as an NHS non-executive director since 1990 and has been interim chair of NHS Dudley since March 2010. She has worked in Dudley for more than 20 years.  As chief officer for Dudley Council for voluntary service she has supported, promoted and championed local charities and voluntary groups.

Alison Gingell has been appointed the chair of NHS Arden cluster covering Coventry and Warwickshire.  She has been chair of NHS Coventry (PCT) since October 2006 and has extensive experience of the health agenda for the city and is particularly interested in health inequalities issues.  A local business woman, who has lived in Coventry for over 40 years, she has been involved in the health service since 1974 when appointed to the Community Health Council. 

Alex Fox MBE has been appointed as chair of NHS Staffordshire cluster.  He has been chair of NHS South Staffordshire since the PCT was established in 2006 and was also leader of East Staffordshire Borough Council.  He was awarded MBE in 2006 for services to the community in Staffordshire.
