WORKFORCE: A chief executive has been appointed to lead the primary care trust’s community health provider arm, ahead of its split from the PCT.
Stuart Poynor was appointed on 4 February as chief executive officer of the provider, which comes into being in July and will be known as Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust.
The new organisation is forming from the provider arms of NHS Stoke on Trent, NHS North Staffordshire, South Staffordshire PCT and adult social services from Staffordshire County Council.
Mr Poynor, formerly chief executive of South Staffordshire PCT, has been interim project director for the Transforming Community Services programme in the area since October 2010.
He said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new chief executive officer of the new organisation which will employ around 5,500 staff and provide services to thousands of people across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.”
He added: “The next step will to appoint a full-time management team including recruiting non-executive and executive posts.”
