WORKFORCE: North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation Trust has had to suddenly halt inpatient gynaecology operations in Hartlepool because of the “unexpected absence of senior medical staff”.

The lack of on-call cover from senior staff overnight has meant that patients have been treated at the University Hospital of North Tees since early January. The trust says this will affect 10 to 11 patients a week with outpatient appointments and pre-assessments being retained in Hartlepool as far as possible.
