STRUCTURE: Minor injuries services will move from the accident and emergency department at the University Hospital of Hartlepool to an urgent care centre, called One Life Hartlepool, on 2 August.
The date has been decided following consultation and independent review of the foundation trust’s service redesign programme, which is titled Momentum: Pathways to Healthcare.
A walk in centre has already been relocated to the One Life Hartlepool site, as has an out of hours medical service. A trust statement says: “Patients will be directed to the right service for them when they arrive at One Life Hartlepool’s urgent care centre.
“Patients needing emergency medical care who dial 999 themselves will be assessed by the ambulance service and will be taken to the appropriate place which, in most cases, will be the emergency assessment unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool.”
