COMMERCIAL: Northampton General Hospital NHS trust has announced a partnership with private healthcare provider Avery Healthcare to provide 22 “transitional care” beds at its Cliftonville Care Centre.

The centre, which is next to the trust site, has been created with the aim of making beds available to patients who have completed their treatment in hospital and are recuperating in preparation of returning home.

Patients at the centre will have access to a range of facilities including a rehabilitation gym, a therapy suite, and a cinema.

Chris Pallot, director of planning and performance at the trust said: “Having the option to transfer patients to Cliftonville means that patients who no longer need acute hospital care are looked after in the right place for them as they prepare for discharge.

“We have also been able to reduce costs, review our forward needs and ensure we make the best use of our bed capacity.”
