FINANCE: Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire Cluster of PCTs is reporting it is on target to meet its financial budget this year despite significant over-performance by the region’s acute trusts.
Northamptonshire Teaching PCT was underspent by £877,000 as at June 30 and on target for a year end underspend of £3.5m. This is despite Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust already overspent by £6.4m at June 30.
The forecast outturn position is an overspend of £24.8m. Both acute hospitals have been told to manage growth within contracted levels and to ensure they deliver on their QIPP savings plans.
Milton Keynes PCT was underspent by £25,000 as at June 30 and on target for a year end underspend of £100,000. Milton Keynes Foundation Trust Hospital is predicting a year end overspend of £1.2m.
The cluster of PCTs have released reserves to cover the costs of the over-performance before savings are made later in the year.
