COMMERCIAL: Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust has express interest in providing services for older people in China as part of a consortium.
Senior managers have attended meetings with Healthcare UK, which is bringing together partners for the project.
The trust has also been in talks with health officials from Nigeria about providing training courses in areas such as emergency medicine.
Brenda Longstaff, the trust’s head of charity, volunteering, arts and international, added: “If the trust is to pursue international commercial opportunities as a new area of work it will be necessary to provide a budget to cover direct costs such as hospitality for visiting international teams, development of marketing materials, and overseas visits.”
