PERFORMANCE: Emergency admissions are up by nearly 8 per cent at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

There was a 3 per cent increase in emergency department attendances during 2010-2011 with a 7.95 per cent increase in April 2011 compared with April 2010.

Board papers say “it has been a challenging few months”.

The reconfiguration of beds and wards across both the trusts’ campuses created some operational difficulties. In addition, one had a number of wards closed due to a confirmed norovirus in the first few weeks of the new financial year.

For the first two weeks of the financial year, performance on the four hour wait target was 93.4 per cent and 86.7 per cent respectively. Since that time, 95 per cent has been achieved every week bar one.
