APPOINTMENT A hospital consultant at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has been appointed to the role of deputy national clinical lead for organ donation.

Dr Dale Gardiner, Intensive Care Consultant at NUH, was formerly Regional Clinical Lead for Organ Donation in the Midlands before taking up his new role on 1 June.

Dr Gardiner will work closely with Dr Paul Murphy, National Clinical Lead for Organ Donation, and will be responsible for working with the Regional Clinical Leads in Organ Donation (CLODs) to help deliver the new Organ Donation strategy.

He said: “This is an exciting opportunity for me personally and for Nottingham. We have led the way nationally in our whole hospital approach to organ donation with our unique deceased donation simulation staff training day and in our local ‘be a hero’ public promotion campaign.”
