OUH named as worst performer in the south on A&E

Board papers for the southern region’s strategic health authority cluster found that 90.4 per cent of patients were admitted or discharged from accident and emergency within four hours. The trust’s performance had fallen sharply from over 95 per cent in the previous quarter.

SHA board papers said: “Recovery plan agreed… weekly performance recently variable with increased concern over past three weeks. Whole system engagement is on-going. Delayed transfers of care remain a concern in this system.”

Delivery in quarter two was also described as “high risk”. “Escalated performance management arrangements have been put in place,” the papers said.

Elsewhere in the South Central region, Portsmouth Hospitals Trust also missed the target with a score of 91.3 per cent, as did University Hospitals Southampton Foundation Trust, with a score of 94 per cent.
