PERFORMANCE: Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust reported 19 serious incidents requiring investigation (SIRIs) in the three months to December 2010.
The majority of the SIRIs - 14 - related to pressure ulcers.
A report to the board of NHS Oxfordshire revealed the PCT was concerned about the lack of urgent theatre capacity at the ORH.
According to the report: “This has resulted in unacceptable delays for urgent surgery leading to sub-optimal care, worse patient experience and longer lengths of stay. The ORH has increased capacity, but more capacity is still required. Work is underway to review anaesthetic and surgical rotas, map demand against capacity and review staffing in levels. This work should be completed in three months and we expect to see improvement by that time.”
