Heart of England Foundation Trust has appointed a chief executive to replace Mark Goldman.
Mark Newbold, chief executive of Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust, is expected to start at Heart of England in the summer.
Dr Goldman, a former surgeon, announced in February he would leave the Birmingham trust, where he had overseen a difficult merger with Good Hope Hospital. Heart of England is one of the biggest foundation trusts in the country.
Dr Newbold, a former doctor, worked for three years at Kettering, which achieved foundation status during that time.
Heart of England said in a statement: “Mark’s appointment has been unanimously supported by the trust’s governors.
“Under his leadership Kettering has for the last three years consistently improved its ratings. Mark has led Kettering from a trust just out of turnaround, successfully through the foundation trust authorisation process and into a position of strength.
“We are confident his experience will prove invaluable as we continue to build our trust in a rapidly changing environment.”
