Baroness Diana Warwick has been appointed as the new chair of the Human Tissue Authority.
She will take up the post from 1 January 2010.
Labour peer Baroness Warwick recently retired from her role as chief executive of Universities UK, where she represented the interests of 130 universities in Britain.
Speaking of her new post at the HTA, she said: “I am tremendously excited to have been appointed to this role.
“There are many challenges for the future, including the financial climate, future scientific advances that may test regulatory boundaries and new European legislation on organ transplantation. I look forward to leading the HTA and ensuring it continues to thrive and adapt to future change,” she added.
Baroness Warwick will replace Shirley Harrison, who has chaired the HTA since January 2007.
