NHS Leeds has appointed John Lawlor as chief executive.
Mr Lawlor has led Harrogate and District Foundation Trust for the last four years and is currently on secondment to the Department of Health.
NHS Leeds chair Linda Pollard said: “I am delighted to welcome John to NHS Leeds, which is one of the largest NHS organisations in the country, responsible for commissioning care for over 750,000 local people.
“Over the next few years we aim to become one of the best performing primary care trusts in the country. John is looking forward to help make this happen and to the challenges that lie ahead.
“He has proven leadership and management qualities which will ensure that our organisation moves forward with confidence.”
The PCT said it is in the process of finalising Mr Lawlor’s start date.
