Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Foundation Trust has appointed Dr Robin Bolton as its new medical director, taking effect from 1 April.
Dr Emyr Jones retires at the end of March after 11 years at the trust.
Dr Bolton has been a gastroenterology consultant at the trust since March 1988 and was clinical director for medicine for nine years until 2007. He became deputy medical director for professional standards in September 2008.
He said: “This is an important and challenging time both for the trust and the NHS as a whole. I aim to build on the excellent work that has already been done here, promoting excellence and quality in everything that we do and continuing to improve our hospitals and the services we offer for our patients, carers, and the wider community.”
Chris Scholey, who chairs the trust, said: “Robin’s leadership skills at both corporate and clinical level will be invaluable, and his local knowledge and understanding of our patients’ needs will assist us in moving forward and continuing to improve services for our service users and carers.”
