WORKFORCE: A recruitment freeze at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust is achieving savings above plan.
All new and replacement posts have to be approved at executive director level.
Based upon an average monthly net reduction of 20 full time equivalents with an average salary cost of £38k, the trust identified a target saving of £60k per month.
The in-month saving for December was £35k. When added to the recurrent saving associated with recruitment restrictions from April to November, the total saving in December was £371k.
