Shifting care out of centralised facilities and into communities is a central pillar of the 10-Year Health Plan.

By harnessing local expertise, digital innovation and a focus on prevention, integrated care boards are working with primary care providers at scale to not only improve patient outcomes but also support a more sustainable, efficient, and equitable NHS for the future. Eyecare offers a shining example of a service that can be delivered at the neighbourhood level to meet these goals.

The renewed emphasis on community comes at a critical time for the NHS, with the commissioning landscape undergoing rapid and profound change. This HSJ webinar, sponsored by and produced with Primary Eyecare Services, is designed for those working within outpatient transformation and shifting services to the community in primary care for both ICBs and trusts, and questioning how services will be delivered over the coming years.

Join senior commissioning manager Katie Rimmer, along with Timothy Bagot and Dharmesh Patel from Primary Eyecare Services, to learn how Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB is leading the way in delivering the NHS’s vision for care closer to home.

In this case study-led discussion, we will cover:

  • What ophthalmology challenges the team in Lancashire and South Cumbria was trying to solve
  • The impact that community-delivered eyecare has on patients and the wider health system
  • How similar approaches can be adopted for other pathways and regions of the UK

Viewers will also be able to submit their questions during the open Q&A session.
