East of England Ambulance Service Trust has appointed Matt Broad as a locality director for Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Mr Broad took up the position at the beginning of this week.

He is a qualified paramedic, and has served as the trust’s general manager for Norfolk since March last year.

He has worked in the ambulance service for 17 years, having begun his career in London.

Mr Broad said: “I know the area well because of my previous roles within the service and I’m pleased to have been given the opportunity to help move the service forward in these particular counties.”

“We’ve already made great strides; recruiting hundreds of student paramedics and deploying more ambulances to the frontline, and I’m determined to ensure that the service continues to move in the right direction.

“Our staff work incredibly hard across the three counties and I’m privileged to have this chance to work with them, support them, and ultimately help us deliver the very best patient care.”

Trust chief executive Anthony Marsh said he is “delighted that Matt has been appointed to this role”.
