WORKFORCE: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust has been judged to be one of the top 100 gay-friendly employers in the country.

The 2013 Workplace Equality Index is compiled by charity Stonewall as a tool for employers to measure their efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.

London Ambulance Service NHS Trust was rated number 22, the third highest placed healthcare organisation in the list this year. It was number 94 in the index last year.

Only five other health sector organisations made the top 100. These were Nottingham Healthcare NHS Trust at number four; South East Coast Ambulance Service at 35; Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust at 58; and Liverpool Community Health Trust and Kent Community Health Trust jointly at 86.
