WORKFORCE: The South East Coast Ambulance Service has been judged to be one of the top 100 gay-friendly employers in the country.

The 2013 Workplace Equality Index is compiled by charity Stonewall as a tool for employers to measure their efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.

South East Coast Ambulance Service was rated number 35, the third highest healthcare organisation in the list. It did not feature in the index last year.

Only five other health sector organisations made the top 100. These were Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust at number four; London Ambulance Service Trust at 22; Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust at 58; and Liverpool Community Health Trust and Kent Community Health Trust jointly at 86.
