FINANCE: South West Ambulance Service Foundation Trust has received £120,000 from the Department of Health to help prepare for the Olympic sailing competitions in 2012.
Sailing events will be held at Weymouth during the competition in 2012. As a result of responsibilities within the region the trust had declined the London Ambulance Service’s request to provide between 10 and 20 staff during the period of the Olympics in line with other ambulance trusts as part of a mutual aid agreement.
However, SWASFT agreed to a request for high level support and is expecting to send four officers for two days each.
