The coaltion government has announced the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence will face “reform”.
The document released this morning said there would be a move to “value-based pricing, so that all patients can access the drugs and treatments their doctors think they need”.
A cancer drugs fund was also pledged.
It said this would be paid for with the money saved in the NHS by halting a rise in Employer National Insurance contributions from April 2011 - a Conservative election pledge.
