WORKFORCE: Primary care trusts comprising the South West London cluster spent £6.7m on redundancies in the last financial year.

The five PCTs’ spend varied between £519,000 and £2m, a finance report on 2010-11 said.

NHS Croydon spent £1.8m, Kingston £519,000, Richmond £2m, Sutton & Merton £1.6m and Wandsworth £752,000.

The document said: “These totals comprise actual expenditure incurred, accruals for agreed redundancies and provisions for anticipated redundancies.

“It is likely that many of these positions will crystallise by the time the final accounts are fully completed, resulting in higher or lower redundancy expenditure.”
