WORKFORCE: Edward Donald’s future as the chief executive of the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is in doubt after it emerged that he has taken indefinite annual leave.
HSJ understands that he may not return. The move follows a vote on his performance at a recent trust board meeting.
The trust’s chief medical officer, Dr Jonathan Fielden, is currently in charge.
A trust spokesman could only confirm that Mr Donald is on annual leave. Sources at the trust suggest that there may be legal reasons why no further information can be made available at present.
