WORKFORCE: Staff representatives at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust are “unconvinced” by plans to work with other public sector organisations in the county to deliver back of house services.

The Cornwall Strategic Partnership, which includes the trust and Cornwall Council, is seeking a private sector partner to run, operate and transform back office services in order to deliver savings and efficiancies and support service integration and transformation.

Trust chief executive Lezli Boswell’s report to August’s board said a number of meetings had been held to discuss the proposal with staff.

The report continued: “The staff side position is that they are unconvinced that the Cornwall Strategic Partnership is the best way forward…

“The competitive dialogue process supporting the procurement continues and the trust board will make its own decision based on information and assurances; and what is in the best interest of our core business - delivering quality care.”
