FINANCE: Peninsula Community Health and Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust have secured funding of £1.3m to improve the care experience for people with dementia.
The Department of Health cash will be spent to create dementia-friendly environments at Royal Cornwall’s three sites and Peninsula’s 14 community hospitals.
The projects are part of a national pilot which aims to build evidence of the types of physical changes which have the most benefit for dementia patients.
Peninsula dementia lead Sue Greenwood said: “The strength of the bid was largely due to our desire to work in partnership to improve the patient experience.
“By working together, we have been able to better understand the needs of our local population, share expertise and develop a consistent approach to staff training and environmental enhancements.”
