FINANCE: The trust is reporting a high risk it will not achieve its planned surplus of £9.7m.
The Trust surplus to date is £4.1m and progress continues in improving the in year surplus of the Trust, however it is behind on the plans set at the start of the year for the surplus delivery to date. The Trust is currently forecasting that it remains possible to achieve the planned surplus, however, this is subject to delivering the remedial actions on the service improvement programme and recovery measures. Achieving sufficient recovery to improve to the £9.7m is considered very high risk.
The planned surplus of £9.69m for 2010/11 reflects the agreement made with the Department of Health after the trust failed to break even in 2009-10. The Trust has agreement with the Strategic Health Authority and Department of Health to recover its historic deficit by 2012/13.
