FINANCE: Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has been fined £46,000 for breaches of rules on mixed sex accommodation and £85,525 for ambulance handover times longer than 15 minutes.
NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly also fined the trust £757 for never events. However, fines for failing the referral to treatment time targets were withdrawn as
performance improved in line with the agreed recovery plan.
At the end of February the primary care trust was £1.6m behind plan in its contract with the trust.
A report to the board said the main underperformance was in elective activity. Orthopaedics is below plan by 694 spells (-£2.4m), offset by cardiology which is above plan by 209 spells (£0.8m).
