PERFORMANCE: The Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust has been fined nearly £1m so far this year for failing to meet referral-to-treatment times.
The trust is now meeting the 18 week target for new referrals on the admitted pathways but is tackling a backlog of long waiters who have already exceeded 18 weeks.
At the end of October, there were 400 long waiters - reduced from 529 at the end of September, a report to the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly board revealed.
So far this year, 37 patients had used their rights under the NHS Constitution to move to an alternative provider because of the long waits.
