PERFORMANCE: Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust was one of the best performing trusts for cancer patients felling involved in decisions about their care, according to the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey.

Of the 786 patients who responded, 74 per cent felt their views were taken into account by doctors and nurses putting the trust in the top 20 per cent nationally on this measure. The trust was also in the top 20 per cent for doctors and nurses not talking in front of patients as if they were not there.

However, just 52 per cent felt there were always or nearly always enough nurses on duty and only 81 per cent felt they were told about their cancer diagnosis sensitively, putting the trust in the bottom performing fifth on both of these measures.
