STRUCTURE: The board of Northern Devon Healthcare Trust has been asked to agree a memorandum of understanding with Devon County Council for the “provision of integrated adult health and social care services”.
The 35 page document sets out governance and management arrangements and lasts for three years. A report to the board states that the memorandum “specifies additional requirements for more detailed service specifications and an annual strategic agreement to be produced by 1 August 2011”.
The memorandum between the trust and the council replaces former agreements between the council and NHS Devon which applied from 1 July 2008 and 31 March 2011.
The Northern Devon Healthcare Trust manages a portfolio which includes an acute hospital and 17 community hospitals. It began providing adult community health services and social care provision in April 2008 under arrangements with primary care services in North Devon.
The agreement is similar to the one Torbay Care Trust have signed up to in relation to delivery of integrated health and social care teams in Southern Devon.
