WORKFORCE: Northern Devon Healthcare Trust has announced the appointment of Robert Down as a non-executive director
Mr Down has a background in the oil and gas industry and is a chartered engineer.
For the past five years Mr Down has been a board member of North Devon Homes, a registered provider of social rented housing, where he is currently deputy chairman and chairs the audit and risk committee.
The trust has also confirmed two reappointments to the board – Roger French as chair and Pauline Geen as a non-executive director.
Mr Down, who lives in Newton Tracey, near Bideford, said: “I’m proud and delighted to have been asked to join the board of the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust.
“My daughter is a GP and my son-in-law is a consultant physician, both in north Devon, so I’m aware of some of the issues facing the NHS both locally and nationally.
“I’m looking forward to using my experience to help the Trust meet the challenges ahead while continuing to provide safe, high quality and sustainable services to patients.”
Mr French has been reappointed trust chair until February 2017.
Pauline Geen has been reappointed as a non-executive director until March 2017.
