FINANCE: Staff at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust will need to plan for five per cent efficiency savings next year, the board heard.

Finance director Neil Priestly highlighted how the trust would need to save at least £25m next year. This year it has predicted it can deliver £24.2m of savings – a shortfall of £3.88m against its full plans but better than the position at the end of month nine when its savings were 19 per cent or £3.9m behind target.

Mr Priestly also said the trust was overperforming on its contract with NHS Sheffield, which was causing the PCT some concern.
