FINANCE: Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust recorded a £58,000 surplus in 2011-12, just beating its breakeven target for the year.
However, both income and expenditure were higher than expected at £9.64m and £9.58m, respectively.
In March, the trust’s income was £445,000 more than plan at £29.1m, but the trust only delivered half of its planned £1.5m surplus.
April board papers said this was “largely expected”. “The reduced level of underspending, as compared with plan, in the month of March has occurred because the trust has during the year been able to bring forward surpluses into earlier periods,” they said.
