PERFORMANCE: Monitor has downgraded Somerset Partnership Foundation Trust’s governance risk rating from amber-green to amber red.

Monitor’s report on the last quarter of 2010-11 states this is because of outstanding issues with the Care Quality Commission.

The regulator raised moderate concerns following an inspection visit in October 2010 triggered by four serious incidents between May and July 2010, which resulted in the death of three people using the service.

Monitor said the trust’s Rydon Ward was not meeting essential standard four, which states that “people should get safe and appropriate care that meets their needs and supports their rights”.

The trust has a financial risk rating of three out of five.
