PERFORMANCE: The CQC has decided not to take any further action regarding a serious untoward incident at Bridgwater Community Hospital.
The incident relates to a Clostridium Difficile associated death on the hospital’s Poole Ward that emerged during a Care Quality Commission inspection of NHS Somerset’s provider arm Somerset Community Health in July 2010. The CQC has now received comprehensive and detailed local action plans indicating that the possible concerns about Poole Ward have been addressed as well as a thorough organisation action plan setting out how lessons had been learnt and indicating action that had been taken across the Somerset Community Health. As a consequence, the CQC has confirmed that it will not be taking any further action related to this event.
