Former hospital chief executive Paula Vasco-Knight has pleaded not guilty to three counts of fraud.

Ms Vasco-Knight pleaded not guilty to three separate counts of fraud at Exeter Crown Court on Friday.

The charges relate to a period between October 2012 and August 2013.

The case has been adjourned until 23 January 2017.

Stephen Vasco-Knight, of the same address in Runcorn, Cheshire, also pleaded not guilty to one count of fraud.

In May, Ms Vasco-Knight was suspended, after just two weeks, from her position as acting chief executive of St George’s Healthcare Trust.

In 2008, she was appointed chief executive of Torbay and South Devon Healthcare Foundation Trust and was also national equalities lead for NHS England. She resigned from the trust in May 2014.
