STRUCTURE: Staff and services at Bedfordshire Community Health Services transferred formally to South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust on 1 September.

The transfer marks the completion of an approvals and advice process, led by NHS Bedfordshire, which concluded with Monitor revising SEPT’s risk rating.

This gave the “green light” to the board of NHS Bedfordshire to approve the transfer of their community services to SEPT and for SEPT’s board to formally approve the acquisition.

NHS Bedfordshire chief executive Angela McNab said: “This transfer will help to ensure we can deliver the best possible community healthcare to Bedfordshire residents by bringing together the experience and innovation of SEPT and the skills and dedication of our frontline staff.”

Chief executive of SEPT Patrick Geoghegan said: “SEPT will now be bringing together the skills and expertise of our new community staff with those of our mental health staff so that we can care for the physical and mental health needs of people in their own homes and communities.”
