PERFORMANCE: South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been rated one of the top 40 hospitals by information analysis firm CHKS.

The recent chief executive’s report to the board at the says: “For the eleventh year running the trust was named as one of the CHKS 40 Top Hospitals, which are based on the evaluation of 21 indicators of clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.”

The report also notes that a CHKS benchmarking report rates the trust better than peers on five key measures: Mortality rate, risk adjusted mortality index, average length of stay, risk adjusted length of stay and 28 day readmissions. The trust’s surgery and women and children divisions were also rated better than peers across all measures.
