WORKFORCE: South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust has appointed a new chief executive.

David Bradley has been appointed from his current role as chief operating officer of Oxford Health Foundation Trust, a mental health and community trust serving Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

He starts in July and his appointment comes after the departure of Judy Wilson, who was appointed in 2009.

Trust chair Peter Molyneux said: “We are delighted that David will be joining the trust as chief executive. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of mental health. David joins us at an exciting but challenging time as we move towards becoming a foundation trust in 2013.

“He will provide the leadership the trust needs during this crucial period, not only on the work we are undertaking around our foundation trust application, but on our plans for the future, including the redevelopment of the Springfield Hospital site.”

Mr Bradley has held board level posts in the NHS for more than a decade.

He said: “The trust has some excellent services, many of which are recognised nationally. It has exciting and innovative plans to develop services over the next five years, so that it becomes the provider of choice for mental health and addiction services in south west London and the south east.

“I have worked for two trusts which have successfully gained foundation status and understand what is required to lead South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust through this important process. “
