STRUCTURE: The mental health organisation has been told by GPs in south-west London they cannot yet give their support to its foundation trust bid.

A report from Richmond and Twickenham Primary Care Trust’s Professional Executive Committee chair Marilyn Plant said representatives of the trust had come to the south-west clinical cabinet meeting on January 5 to discuss their application along with fellow applicants from local acute St George’s Healthcare Trust.

She said: “The clinical commissioners made a number of observations and felt that they were not in a position to support either trust as there had been insufficient clinical engagement from GPs to date. Both trusts were advised to consider how best to take this requirement forward.

“St George’s Healthcare Trust will attend the March Clinical Commissioning Forum to discuss their application and are approaching the localities for further input to their proposals.”
