WORKFORCE: Governors at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust have appointed Simon Waugh as the organisation’s new chair.
Mr Waugh’s previous role was chief executive of the National Apprenticeship Service, where he was accountable directly to business secretary Vince Cable and education secretary Michael Gove.
He has also served at board level with Centrica, and SAGA Group.
A statement issued today by the mental health and community services provider said: “Simon’s wealth of experience and national reputation in delivering exceptional results for a multitude of organisations and sectors made him the ideal fit for Southern Health.
“He will be playing a major role in helping the leadership of Southern Health continue to strengthen its customer focus and strategic direction.”
Carol Bode, the trust’s current chair, will leave on 31 January. She has been with Southern Health and its predecessor Hampshire Partnership since 2006, initially as a non executive director.
Ms Bode was chair from 2008 when the trust merged with Hampshire primary care trust’s provider arm last year to form Southern Health.
