FINANCE: St George’s Healthcare Trust was predicting a deficit of £5,000 by this point in the financial year but the south London acute trust has overshot by more than £4m.

A report to NHS Londion’s finance committee said this was: “Due to income pressures, temporary staffing costs arising from a shortage of junior doctors, additional costs to meet elective waiting list targets and CIP slippage.”

St George’s is still predicting a year-end surplus of £7.9m
