WORKFORCE: St George’s Healthcare Trust have appointed a new chair.
Christopher Smallwood will replace Naaz Coker at the south London trust after the latter’s term as chair expired.
Mr Smallwood was chair of Kingston Hospital Trust from January 2009 and Hounslow Primary Care Trust before that.
He was an economic advisor to Barclays plc after working in the City as a consultant and is a former economics editor of the Sunday Times
Mr Smallwood said: “The trust has a significant role to play in ensuring that the public in southwest London continue to have access to first-class healthcare services in hospital and community settings.
“I would like to pay tribute to Naaz Coker for her leadership over the last eight years during which time the trust has become established as a major trauma centre and hyper-acute stroke unit, significantly improved its quality and safety of care, successfully integrated with community services Wandsworth and worked to improve its financial position.”
