WORKFORCE: Three primary care trusts in Staffordshire have announced that a vice president of AstraZeneca has been appointed as the interim chair for its provider arm.
Nigel Ratcliffe will take on the post at the proposed Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust for up to year, until 31 January 2012. The remuneration for this post is £20,896, subject to ministerial approval.
Dr Radcliffe, from Leek in Staffordshire, has 26 years experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry, including his current role as the vice president of strategic partnering and business development with AstraZeneca.
He will retire from his role at AstraZeneca at the end of April this year. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, at the University of London.
Dr Ratcliffe said: “I put myself forward for appointment as I strongly believe that local people should be at the centre of defining and designing services. This is a great opportunity to create something new which will benefit the public, our patients and our staff well into the future.”
The establishment of the Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust is subject to ministerial approval
It is an integration of the community health provider services of NHS North Staffordshire, NHS Stoke on Trent and South Staffordshire PCT along with the adult care services of Staffordshire County Council.
