FINANCE: Properties worth more than £29m look likely to be transferred to NHS Property Services Ltd if Suffolk primary care trust signs a deal with preferred bidder Serco.

The private firm was announced as the front runner for the contract yesterday.

NHS Property Services has been created to own and manage NHS properties after PCTs are abolished in 2013.

As non-NHS providers are not able to take over community service assets, the PCT’s entire portfolio is likely to be taken over by the property company.

An HSJ Freedom of Information request found that the PCT’s assets have a net book value of £29.2m.
