PERFORMANCE: Two wards run by Surrey and Borders Partnership Foundation Trust have achieved the top rating in a national accreditation scheme developed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Elgar and Delius Wards at Epsom Hospital offer inpatient support to adults experiencing a period of mental ill-health in the areas of Elmbridge, Mole Valley and Epsom.
The wards have both improved their previous RCP Accreditation for Inpatient Mental Health Services rating from “Good” to “Excellent”.
Participating wards are required to work through 142 standards encompassing admission, safety, therapy, facilities and environment, and ensure each element is being achieved.
As part of the accreditation process staff and people who use the services are asked to complete satisfaction questionnaires and a peer review is undertaken on each ward to independently assess progress.
