PERFORMANCE: Memory services serving Runnymede and West Elmbridge have achieved the top rating in a national accreditation scheme developed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
The service, which provides assessment and treatment for older people with memory problems, is run by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
It is based at Hayworth House on the site of St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey.
The service covering West Elmbridge and Runnymede is the first in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex or Kent to be rated excellent with the Memory Services National Accreditation Programme (MSNAP).
The assessment process involved surveying around 80 GPs, carers, people who use services and staff to gather evidence about whether the service is meeting RCP standards.
The accreditation is now valid for two years and will be reviewed again in October 2014.
